Ok my system is as follows
evga 760
Core I7 (920 I think)
12g 1600 Ram ran at 1066 speed (its the default)

Ok I am going to copy and paste over Windows Index info.

Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680
Total available graphics memory 9979 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 4096 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 5883 MB

See I have 12g of ram in there that are working perfectly thanks to an earlier post and the help of several kind people. But now as you can see it says that almost half is now being used by the graphics card. I already have 4g video memory so why the heck is it taking almost 6g of my system memory.

I read that some can have problems with triple channel memory. It said to raise the voltage. Its default is 1.5v I changed it to 1.65v and it changed nothing. The same problem existed.

so if anyone has any idea why my graphics card is stealing memory from my system i would love to hear it

I want to know his total amount of installed ram if his card is using almost 6000GB of RAM.

:hmm:

Heres a full list of my system info under index.
I have read a bit and it says its a bios setting.
I figured the only one that can help would be someone that knows the evga 760 motherboard bios menu

I thought it was fairly obvious...

Total amount of system memory 12.0 GB RAM ==> You have 12GB.
Dedicated graphics memory 4096 MB ==>You have 4GB on the card.
Shared system memory 5883 MB ==> ~5GB memory can be shared
Total available graphics memory 9979 MB ==> you can have a total of ~10GB available if the video card needs it. (4096 + 5883...)

So, no stealing is going on.

well is there a way to stop it from sharing.

See my computer isnt such a big deal because I have plenty.
But my daughters pc only has 4g ram and it is "sharing" 2g.
It only has a gtx470 in it.

When she plays sims 3 it takes forever for it to load. Its such a pain. I am looking to speed it up.

While sims 3 is a hog, I really, really doubt that it is even touching more (video) RAM than what is on the 470. Again, the 2GB 'shared' is only used when it runs out of the VRAM on the card, or it needs to create lots of textures.

I suggest you get a SSD if you want to see load times improve.

Re: Sims3 - I would also run process explorer and see how much physical RAM is being used while starting the game (just alt-tab out once the game has loaded).

Sims 3 is a horribly inefficient application and it gets exponentially slower if you are using any mods. I've run it on a i7 3770k with 16Gb RAM and a GTX 670 on striped SSD's. It still takes an incredibly long time to load. It's by far the slowest loading application I've ever used.

I am going to second this. Using a 6 core 3930k, 32GB of Ram and had it on a 256GB M4 that was getting me 475MB/s reads and 254MB/s writes and it didn't seem to load any quicker than the machine I originally installed it on a 4 core OG Phenom 9950BE, 4GB of ram and a 5 year old 1 TB 90MB/s read Hitachi. I eventually used Steam Mover to offload it from the SSD because A.) I don't really play it, got it because it was cheap and B.) because the load time stayed practically the same.

That's as far as you're willing to go in keeping the machine clean?
No running rkill, malwarebytes or superantispyware?

What on earth do you do with your PC?

I think I'll make that a rhetorical question, I'm not sure I want to know :)

Follow the posts and you'll find I was making a suggestion about a cleanup, not an ongoing arsenal of utilities.
