i have just bought a x1950 pro to upgrade to 6600gt. any ideas on what order i should do the upgrade process, like what should i do first

Upgrade FROM 6600GT, correct...?

If that's the case...

1. Download the appropriate new ATI/AMD Video Driver, store on Desktop for easy access.
2. Uninstall the old NVidia drivers.
3. Reboot - make sure that the drivers have been entirely removed. Use the Driver Cleaner if necessary (I have never used it, but apparently it is a good idea - just google it).
4. Turn off the computer.
5. Remove the old/install the new card.
6. Start the computer.
7. Install the new drivers - the Install file is on your Desktop.

Good luck!

That really does depend on how low you're willing to set the settings in newer games. There are people who are just replacing their MX440s after having used that card for 6 or so years.
