You likely have a monitor that will only go up to 1280x1024. Let me guess - you have a 17" or 19" LCD.

The video card is fully capable of driving up to a 30" LCD, which commonly uses 2560x1600 resolution, but your monitor's native resolution is 1280x1024, so you should just run it at that.

What he said. Basically that's the maximum it'll ever output, but the most you'll be able to use is determined by your monitor.

yes I do have a 19" LCD, I didn't know it could only support that resolution. Thanks for the help.

Also, if it's an LCD then you're best running things at its native resolution (my guess being 1280*1024) or stuff will look blurry.
