Hello Everyone,

I am looking to extend the life of my PC so I was hoping to get some help on a video card to purchase.

First, I am running a Socket 939 ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe with my A64 3000+, NVIDIA 7900GT, 2gigs ram, 500gb HD and Windows XP 32bit.

I am currently trying to buy a Dual Core to help as well.

I have an NEC 90GX2 running at native 1280x1024.

I wanted to purchase a new video card that would supplement this setup for a mediocre gamer. I play a wide variety of games and I happen to love Crysis and STALKER. I am definitely looking forward to Starcraft 2 and Warhammer 40k 2.

I also have a 50" 720p plasma that I wanted to connect my PC to for movies, since my PC is my DVD player. Is it possible to connect my PC to my TV with HDMI?

My budget is around $125 give or take for shipping or an extraordinary deal.

All help is greatly appreciated!

You have a few options. You can try to grab another 7900GT and run SLI. You can get a 8800GT for ~110ish, or hold out for another 4850 deal which can get down to the ~130 range (haven't seen one in a while though).

When I look on Newegg, every video card lists HDTV out. It seems they have DVI to HDMI adapters. Are they DVI to HDMI?

I thought I read somewhere it is better to get HDMI out rather than a converter.

I could be mistaken..

Skt939, with a dual core <3GHz, is likely to CPU limited for most games at 1280x1024 (and even more so at 720p). Ok, so Crysis is an exception to most rules, but I don't see you pushing a high enough res to justify a GTX260, not to mention it blows your budget to pieces. A 9800-based card or 4850 might make sense if you want modern features and can find a hot deal.
