hey there guys!!
well, here is the thing, i have this rig:
Intel Celeron 1.8 Ghz
Biostar P4SFA - AGP x4 <----
256Mb DDR
Onboard VGA (SIS 315)
40 GB H.D.
Im intersted in buying a graphic card as my little brother wants to play ganes and offcourse nothing will boot on Onboard VGA , so ive got my eyes on : Giga-Byte GV-R96P128DE (ATI 9600 PRO 128Mb AGP x8), my question is, will it run smooth in my system, i know that the system is slow and propaply i wont be getting the maximum out of it, my question is how bad is it? i mean will it be able to hold up the new games or the other components will hold it back? do u think i should get it or get something cheaper like an FX5200 or ATI 9550?
p.s. i know that all of you would rather upgrade everything, i wish so, but no money, im a student, the max i can afford is this Giga-Byte 9600 Pro.
thanks in advance guys, im waiting to hear your openions

with a celly like that, it won't matter to much. if you want the 9600 then get it, it should still be better than the other ones. gigabyte is good too. welcome to AT!
actually, i have a similar celeron at 2.3 ghz... no agp slot though

hey again, what do you mean that it wont matter too much, if you mean that if i get an FX5200 or the ATI 9600 Pro, i will get the same results becouse of the processor then i rather save some money and get 5200? is that what your saying?

nah, but the difference is minimal. however, since the gpu is the most determining facotr, you will notice a dif and i recomend the 9600. a64 fx-55 with 5200 < p4 2.8 with 6680, for example.
