Right now, I play mainly BF2 and am happy with my 7800GT 256.

I am thinking however about upping the resolution and I may be playing some new games in the future. I KNOW I will want to play UT2007 when it comes out.

I have an SLI board right now.

Would I be smart to get a second 7800GT now/soon, or should I wait and just get a new video card later?

What newer games (if any) would require more than a 7800GT? How does a 7800GT compare to some of the newer cards out there? (ie, 7800GS and 7900?)

Right now I'd wait to upgrade if I were you .. buying a second 7800GT to run SLI wouldn't make a lot of sense unless you snag the second card uber-cheap off fs/ft or somthing.

Your 7800GT is slower the a 7900GT, but not really enough slower to make that upgrade worth it either... in order to get a significant bump you'ed have to jump to a 7900GTX/GX2 or an X1900XT/XTX & with the X1950's around the corner plus (hopefully) the Nvidia G80 coming soon, now isn't the time to buy any of the above IMO.

Got it, sounds reasonable. Thanks for the quick and to the point advice.

Your 7800gt is to exspensive (300.00$) to sli. You could sell the 7800gt for about 175.$00 and buy a 7900gt for $250.00. Then when you need it buy another 7900gt later much cheaper like $200.00 and it will be 25% faster
