Ok. My friend has a GeForce 4 MX420, and I have an ATI Radeon 8500 128MB.

I am comparing CS.. I have better FPS during the game.. he gets quiet laggy in the smoke.. but his graphics are better than mine for some reason. Like the people aren't as smooth and stuff.. and the lighting doesn't look as good on mine. The only thing I can think that it is: He has a flat screen monitor or either GeForce4 MX420s have better graphics that mine but don't run the game as quickly (FPS) or whatever.

Anyone know what it might be?

Monitor I'd say. Your card should have pretty good IQ. Just in case try latest Cat's (maybe 3.7 if you believe those problems with 3.8s and monitors) and turn AF on (little performance hit) I would say 4x. Your card is much better and has lots of graphical features MX can't have, Pixel shaders being main reason (MX doesn't have em).

Ok Thanks. I will try that stuff. I think a lot of it has to do with his monitor though.. I'll see.

My guess is that it isn't the card or the monitor, but the game or windows. Check your software settings.
