Video Card for Three Monitors Output

Hi guys,

I want a PCI-E x16 video card for dual DVI and one HDMI output at the same time. I checked AMD eyefinity cards. It seems a DISPLAYPORT monitor is required for three output. Moreover, I don't want to combine the monitors as a large resolution one like eyefinity does. Do you have any recommendation? I am not a gamer and a high-end card is too much pressure to my 400w PSU. But if it is necessary, that's OK. I'll replace my system.

Your help is appreciated.

There are couple of ways eyefinity can be used:

1) Gaming: It works just the way you described, just 3 monitors combined to look like a single big one.

2) Productivity: You can drive 3 monitors independently regardless of resolution and orientation. Yes, you need to drive a monitor using a DP to make use of 3 monitor setup and right now you can but an active DP -> single link DVI adapter for $30.

You can get them here. These support a max resolution of 1920X1200.. anything higher than that, you have to purchase a active DP -> Dual link DVI adapter.. these are much more expensive($99+).

Other options would include:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...770%20Flex (HD5770 with 4 outputs, but 3 can be DVI with no adapter purchase required) but a little overpriced IMO.

Something from this selection:

Most of which are also overpriced.

Very overpriced.

Or a regular 2 output PCIe x16 card and then a secondary regular PCI card (if you have a spare regular PCI slot available).

Your suggestions are very nice. Thanks a lot.

Sorry for one more question.

Is the sapphire trip-DVI card different from a common eyefinity one plus DP to DVI adapter? Could it work on original HDMI + original DVI + DP to DVI adapter? I perfer original HDMI because it is featured by audio output to HDTV.

If you want the HDMI for audio, all you have to do is use an official (as in, from your video card maker) DVI->HDMI adaptor, then use an HDMI cable. I have the same setup and it works fine!

If you have a more recent AMD chipset with onboard video you can use the onboard video in addition to a video card to get 3 outputs at once.

Does it mean the setup of original HDMI + original DVI + DP with adapter would not work?
