Video card for QX9650 system? 4850 died..

All - want to extend the life of this system for at least another couple of years.

I play games at 1920 x 1080, Diablo 3, GW2, Fallout 3. What would be a good card to keep in the system for a couple more years? Is a 7850 too much for this, or is it still ok?

I'm probably going upgrade to Haswell sometime whenever that comes out.

Thanks

I think the 7850 is actually a pretty good choice for this system...

also, QX9650 is worth a good amount of money on ebay, so you could probably sell it for the price of a new i5.

Sapphire 7850 2GB $185 AR

Your QX9650 should handle it alright. It can be bottlenecked in CPU heavy games but that's ok, I would not buy a 1GB card for 1080p regardless of the CPU except on a very limited budget. You'll get another boost in gaming performance once you upgrade to Haswell.

Have you OC'd your QX9650?

Thanks, figure that's a great recommendation to keep the system going. Haven't O/C it yet. I have lightly tried it, but going to keep it stock until the card comes. Appreciate the help!

I'm going to be selling my two ASUS EAH6850's for $95 shipped each if you're interested.

Should be roughly ~2x the power of your 4850.

6850 crossfire is going to be faster than a single 7850, but will also consume twice as much power and make more noise and produce more heat as a result. I would rather buy a new single card, it's the simplest solution and is backed up by 3 year warranty.

The best card for you is the GTX 560 Ti 1GB or 660 Ti 2GB . Your quad is powerful, not a bottleneck at all for these two video cards. If money is a issue grab the 460 1GB for 130 bucks and I promise youll be happy.

You'd be surprised how powerful the GTX 460 1GB still is. I have 2 in SLI. When I upgraded my E8400 to the i5 2500K oc'ed to 4.5GHz my benchmark scores doubled so even your CPU might be a bottleneck on a GTX 460 1GB.

Yea, not concerned about the $ issue. Most likely going to grab a 7950 for ~ 185, figure when I do Haswell, it'll still be spiffy
