I'm building a new machine strictly for DV/moviemaking.

Intel P4C 2.8GHz
Asus P4P800 Dlx motherboard
1 GB DDR400 Ram
160 GB Maxtor HDD

I know what to look for in a video card for a gaming machine, but I don't have a clue for this type of rig. I've been looking at the ATI 9500 Pro or 9600 Pro as just a fast video card, but I wasn't sure if I was looking in the right direction.

Also, I know that the 9500 Pro is benchmarked faster the newer 9600 Pro (because it has double the rendering pipelines). Would the faster clock and memory of the 9600 Pro be better for DV (or will the 9500 Pro still be faster)?

Thanks.

A fast 3D card will help you little while working w/2D video. Get a card that has good dual monitor support and produces a solid 2D image.
