video card for DELL ULTRASHARP 3008WFP?

Hi all,

I just bought the Dell 3008WFP monitor... as you all probably know, u can get a deal from the Dell rep. about $1,655

Anyway, I need to buy a graphics card for it. They told me I need a graphics card which can support dual monitors.

I will be using this monitor for work. I.e. I won't be playing cutting end games, etc. I just need really sharp text and fast refresh times when switching back and forth between applications. On the other hand, the monitor was kind of expensive, so I should probably get a good graphics card for it so that it is not a complete waste.

criteria:
1st: STABLE, NO CRASHING
2nd: SHARP TEXT, I do lost of spreadsheet work
3rd: fast refresh times for switching between applications
4th: must support dual screens
5th: good "match" for the Dell 3008WFP


Can you recommend one for me?

2600XT or 8600GT should be fine. You can do full HD with either, and refresh rate doesn't really apply to DVI.

8800GTS G92 works great with mine.

Any card that is Dual Link DVI will work.

If you're not planning on gaming, buy the cheapest card you can find that has dual link DVI.

That would be Radeon 3540 or something like that. I believe it's $49 and has UVD as well. If you can find one.

I think you'd best get a ATi (3850, 3870, ...), they're still better for 2D, colors, overall IQ...

I would second this; 3540 = great deal.

I see your post here about the Dell 3008WFP, I am looking to buy this monitor very shortly. You said you were able to talk to your Dell rep and get this monitor for $1,655.00.
