I am not real computer savvy but I have a hp compaq nx 7010 notebook with a 4x agp graphics card, i recently tried to install a sims game for my child and it wont work. It requires a direct x 9.0 compatable video card, now how would i find out what video card for my laptop would be compatable with that? Is there somewhere i can download it, is it going to be costly? Do i have to upgrade what i have on my computer?
SOO lost please help!

From what google tells me that's a ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 AGP 4x which is a Direct X 8.1 video chip. I don't think there is any way to update it or buy a new card. You may want to try the last version of the omega drivers for that chipset.

3.8.252 omega drivers

then update your direct x driver

DirectX

I really doubt it will work.

First thing you should do is get the latest drivers for your video card. Probably the ATI ones here would be the best bet:

If that doesn't work, you would have to replace the video card in your laptop. Not only is that a royal pain to access but, finding a compatible card that's dx9 compatible would be pretty tough.

What sims game? Some games have dx8 workarounds.
