Video card for a non-die hard gamer

Hi
I am looking for a non-overpriced, but decent video card. I am not a big time gamer, however, I do play counter Strike, Rainbow Six and couple other Tom Clancy's games on occasional basis.
I want a video card which has video-out, and also video in for creating movies and video clips from tv or other sources.
Something that would improve the video performance, and serve basic gaming needs.
Any ideas?
Thanks

9600pro wouldn't be a bad choice, didn't see video in on that one at newegg though. This kind of depends on how much you want to pay for one, and what the other games you play are. You can get a ti4200 with VIVO for around $130 which might be ok. By the way, what card are you using now?

Splinter Cell is awesome 🙂, but I have xbox for that. not a big PC gamer.
I am currently building a new computer with Abit IS7, P4 2.4Ghz. I am looking more in terms of quality during video capturing through firewire (for digital camcorder) and through tv or something with a video in.
Gaming-wise, I would like to play Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Counter Strike, and future good games.

I havent played GTA but heard its good, so if you know anything about that specific game(video card related), please let me know.

So far, the Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb looks good, and Ti 4200 is about the same but cheaper. Any major differences between the two?
Are there any compatibility issues w/ my motherboard that i should know of?

Thanks for your responses.

9600 pro will give better performance than a ti4200. The 9600 is also dx9, vs the dx8 of the 4200, so the 9600 should be better for future games. If you're willling to pay the extra, I'd say get the 9600pro.

I wouldn't say anything is overkill for most games 🙂. My 9800 pro won't always keep 99fps in cs. Of course it's 1600x1200x32 4xaa 16xaf and it only goes down to say 70 when im looking directly at a smoke grenade going off, otherwise it wouldn't think of going under 99. Hah, it seems absurd that it won't max out cs, but I like my settings as high as they can be set.

MSI Ti4200 VTD8X is pretty much what you are looking for: VIVO, good performance without breaking the bank ($129 shipped), and even comes bundled with Ghost Recon (as well as other games + software).

How about the AIW 9000?

The 9600 Pro is an excellent light gamer's card. You should not pick up a Ti4200, DX9 support is a major plus. And since the 9600 Pros best the 5600U in the marmajority of tests and cost less money, I wouldn't bother with one of them either.

Looks like the 5600 Ultra does just fine against the Radeon 9600 Pro here Link

Not all 5600Ultras are created equal, some are revision 2 (like the one in the review you point to) which are slightly faster than the 9600Pro, but some are the older, slower revision, which are slower than the 9600Pro. So, IF you get a 5600Ultra over a 9600Pro, get one that's clocked 400MHz/400MHz, not any slower.
