I am trying to find a good video card to get that is compatible for HDTV. I have a Samsung 32" LNS3251D. I want to run the computer through it to mess around with MythTV and a HTPC. I play some computer games, but that is not the purpose for the TV. I have an XBox 360 for gaming. I currently have an nVidia Quadro FX1500 adapter on loan. It is definitely no usable on Vista and it is mediocre on XP. I am going to have to return it soon. I am trying to find a good video card that supports HDTVs. I am looking at many options out there, but may be able to wait until ATI launches the R600 adapters. At that time, prices should come down a bit on the G80 cards and the ATI cards should be somewhat in line.

Any recommendation on what I should get as a video adapter?

What's the native res on that TV?

Anything should work for you as long as you dont game with it.

An X1600 or a 7600GT would do the trick if all you wanna do is use it as an HTPC and not game.

I game a little, but mostly with XBox 360. The last games I played on PC were Oblivion (I haven't played in about 4 months) and WoW (about two years ago).

I'd go with a 7900gs if you might ever game again, even a little, because at those resolutions, a 7600gt or x1600 will perform quite crappily

It all depends on if he's going to game on it or not.

He also hasnt said what the native res on the TV is, so it's impossible to give him suggestions on what video card he should get.

its 1366x768, I still recommend a 7900gs, especially if he might play Oblivion, but id he never games again, a 7600gt will be fine
