As long as I get 30 fps

edit: AS CHEAP AS POSSIBLE XD

Sorry for the lack of text.

I got a pos computer and I'm gonna upgrade to a sb build. Just wanted to know what I'd be needing to run some casual games. Ex: tf2 mine craft. Etc

Had one and it served me well in BF2 at the same resolution till like i got like a 7800gs in late 2006.

Serious post?If so perhaps a 5770.

What are the rest of your specs? what games do you plan to play? budget?

A GTX 580 will get you more than 30 fps in any game.

This. Under no constraint, only the sky is your limit. :)

That said, I've played plenty of games at that resolution, at generally high settings, with a HD5750, e.g. GTAIV, FO:NV, ME2, Mafia II, etc. The card will probably struggle on more demanding games like Crysis 2, DA2, BF3, etc.

Without looking at specific benchmarks, I'm guessing a 6850 or 6870 will satisfy in most games. Going with a second-hand 5850 and overclocking it presents great value too.

Without knowing the rest of your specs, or knowing what games you'll be playing, I'll say an HD6570

Radeon 6670 should be pretty good. It's faster than what I've got in my A8 rig which seems to handle 1280x1024 just fine

Disable the "Sent from my Galaxy Nexus" sig. That'll boost your framerate quite a bit.

GT 240 512MB GDDR5 version (not DDR3 version unless you can find it for much cheaper). Wait for a sale and you can get them for ~$30 after rebate, maybe even less.

Great recommendation... I currently have a GT240 DDR3 version in a spare computer, paid ~$30, at 1280x1024 resolution... It'll play pretty much anything available today at that resolution!

Alright, seeing as how your going to be getting a Sandy Bridge system, I wouldn't put a ton of money into that system, so a gt 240 or 6570 would be perfect.

When you say a dell POS the first thing that comes to mind is a small cramped case with a cheap 300/350w power supply with no 6 pin connectors, so in that case i'd grab an 8600 gt.

What do you need SB for? A Pentium D should be fine for general computer use and those games. I have a Dimension E521 with an X2 5200+ with a 9600GT and it does me fine.

9600GT/GT240/4670/5670//6570/6670 should all work.
