I don't know anything about ATI's, but you can buy aftermarket coolers for GPUs from Arctic and others. Check out Newegg. And no, they are not particularly difficult to remove.
the guy in the review says it takes some modding. i like these vga coolers better because they take the heat outa the system unlike the zalman it just blows down and puts heat everywhere.

well you have to see that its kinda hard to find a fan for an AIW X800XT if it was just a regular X800XT it wouldnt be hard but i think with alot of these vga coolers your going to have to mod a little. it wont be hard probably just have to cut a little of the plastic on the vga cooler if it gets in the way as for the zalmans they might fit without any modding idk.
google is your friend use it see if people have put these vga coolers on there cards and if it took any modding.
