I had a problem with my 'newer' video card, a gf2 mx400, and needed to take it out of my machine until I got a new fan for it, so I removed all the drivers, and popped in my old tnt2 m64. It installed with default XP drivers for tnt2, and everything was fine except that some icons did not display correctly. Particularly, icons that should have had red in them, did not.

The card was properly seated in the agp slot (repeatedly), and both are capable of 1024x768@32bit. AGP settings for both cards are identical, so that couldn't have been the trouble. Updating the drivers did not help. There was no system instability while this problem occured, only the colour problems.

I have since installed a different XP system using the tnt2 card, and had no issues, so I know it was software, but I can't figure it out at all. I like to have the tnt2 around as a backup, but it's a pretty useless backup if it can't even display my desktop correctly.

Use drivercleaner to remove the driver(s) and then install a recent nv driver from their site.

Thanks - I guess that was probably the reason... I did uninstall the drivers, and reinstalled the same, most recent detonator package when the problem showed up with the default XP driver. But I guess something was hanging around in there. I'm surprised two nvidia cards that use the same driver package would have htis problem. Upgrading back to the gf2 made the problem go away again, so I guess it's a one-way bug.
