Take it out and reinsert into the slot, just to make certain that you have full, firm contact. Overly simple, but worth a try. Of couse, the card could be DOA, too. Do you have another machine that you could use to try out the new card to verify its condition?

:(I took it out put in the other card the 9200se and it booted up. Then I tried the 9600xt and it did the same thing. Sounds like this is a dead card.

contact the seller to get a refund (unless of course he listed it as untested, in which case he is not liable AFAIK)

This card as far as I can tell does not have a power hook up like the 9700pro or the 9800's series. It does have a jumper for video region

AL NTSC
1-2 PAL
2-3 NTSC

I have this open assuming thats what AL stands for being that we are in the NTSC region.

Upon start up I get 2 to 3 short beeps, with a black screen. The cd light comes on, the HDD makes a sound like it is searching and the FDD light also comes on. Then the system shuts down. I put the 9200se back in and it boots up fine. But I windows puts me into safemode initially.

After further physical examintion of the card, it is clean, and very shiny but it has the smell of death. The burnt electrical type smell that comes from electronics when they fry. So I am working with the seller to sort this out. I have had pretty good luck on ebay so far. This is the first bad thing I bought. Will keep you posted. Thanks.:Q
