Im building a new pc and think the video card is doa. I have a gigabyte mobo ex58-ud36, cpu i7 920, 6gb (3x2) patriot viper ddr3 pc3 10666, asus eah4870 dk top 512mb video card, 650 watt xigmatek no rules ps. The video card fan does to run and there is no video on my lcd. Does this video card work with this mobo? Seems like the video card may be to long, the end of the card is right on top of the sata connecters. So im no sure if its pushed all the way into the pci express slot. It locks into the slot but im not sure if the sata is preventing it from being pushed in more. There are two lights on the video card that light up near where the pci-e power is connected and the heatsink gets warm. What do you guys think is the video card doa?

Try removing and reinsering the vid card in the slot. If it feels secure, and it still doesn't work, try another vid card. If it works, you have your answer.

The store may be able to plug in your current card long enough to test it for you before you buy another one.

Last thought - I have encountered specific vid cards that have been incompatible with specific motherboards for no known reason other than that's what it was.

Good luck. :)

I have tried it in both pci 2.0 slots and each time the fan does not run and there is no video on my lcd. Unfortunately I dont have any other video cards since this is my first build in the last 10 years. I really like the asus $144 after rebate from newegg but im not willing to wait for a replacement. Guess Im gonna pay a premium at the store for the nvidia 260.

Just tried an evga 260 and had the same problem. No video on my lcd and the fan on the video card is not running. I think it may be a bad mobo. Gonna exchange the mobo and see if that works.
