Video card died?

Yesterday, i was watching a movie on my projector via the DVI out on my Leadtek 6800GT, when out of nowhere, an nVidia drivers error pops up, & the projector image & my monitor image (one uses DVI; other uses VGA) suddenly became garbled with red & green lines & missing screwed up text etc. :(

I tried to restart the computer, since it did something similar a few months ago & then never returned when i restarted, but this time, it only looked even worse when i restarted.

I was going to take a screenshot this morning, but i cannot even get into Windows now; i can only barely see the bios, all text & images mixed up, & then Windows reloops constantly trying to restart.

The fan on the card is still running, but something is certainly not right.

Anything ideas of what could be wrong aside from the card being about to die?

edit: BTW, this card was NOT overclocked. When i first got it last summer, i lightly OCed it, but then i set it back to stock, since i didn't see the need to run it any faster than it already was.

Try removing and reinstalling not only your video card, but also your ATX power supply connector. It's possible that one or the other is making poor contact which could be the cause of your problems.

Well, i swapped my two video cards on my two computers...& there wasn't much question after that.

It was indeed the card.

Fortunately, i had an exchange warranty on the card thru the store i bought it from, so i now have a BFG 6800 GT :)

I liked the Leadtek heatsink alot better than the one on this BFG, but i can't really complain since i didn't have to send it out to Leadtek & wait a few wks. for another one.

 switching cards in machines is always the best way to solve these problems
