video card cooling help

Hi guys I just built a budget gaming computer with a ASUS EN8500GT SILENT MAGIC its been running at 76c idling just on the desktop, which seems to be really hot, the card is just a heatsink and no fan, and just within a minute of turning the computer on an idling its to hot to touch and its at 76c. I have one 92mm case fan exhausting air in the back of my case, and I was just wondering if it was possible to tape a spare 80mm fan to the heatsink with some electrical tape? or would that be a bad idea? Any other ways I could get the heat down without buying a new card? Thanks guys.

used everest to find temperatures, cpu is running pretty chilly at 35c.

Use zipties to mount fan unless you have an intake or exhaust somewhere on the case right in the area of that video card.

I have a spot for a 80mm fan on the side of the case, but it doesn't blow on the video card, higher up next to the cpu and such. So zip ties will work better then tape? Should i just zip tie completely around the card, also should it blow air onto or away from the card, i assume onto since intel cpus blow onto the heatsinks, but I guess that could be open to interpretation? thanks.

It should blow air into the heatsink and you should ziptie it only around the heatsink and fan. I've also attached fans to heatsinks via superglue and both have stayed on for over a year so far.

interesting thanks buddy, hope everything works out, I figure thats how they designed it so im sure it could take some punishment but 76c seems extremely hot to me. In retrospect i should of put down the few extra bucks and got the 8600

76C is way too hot even for a video card. You might just need more cooling in that case
