Hey I got a stock BFG 7800 GTX and it seems that my card is running pretty hot (thinking it might be defective but who knows). Idle temps are like 55 C and go up to 70 C during gaming, and when I touch it with my hand the card feels way warmer then my friends BFG 6800 GT. I wanna put a better HSF on it and was wondering what the best choice is? Also how is modding with an aftermarket HSF with BFG lifetime warranty?

My case is a TT Armor. Please recommend, I also heard that people are modding the card by installing a fan, any info on that would be appriciated.

Modding voids it I believe. Only with eVGA does the warranty stick.

I like the vf700-Cu.

I'm using a zalman vf700 on my modded gto. My friend is using a AC silencer on his modded gto2. Neither of us is temperature limited when oc'd to the max, so I'd say both are way better than stock cooling, but I prefer the zalman because it fits a lot more cards for a single cooler. Then there's also the thermalright v1, which cools even better than the other two from the reviews I've seen. Zalman is also coming out with the vf900 heatpipe-based cooler, which looks promising.

I like the Silencer because it exhausts the air from the case. I have a small case and 2x graphic cards so every little bit helps. I don't like it because its a PITA to clean and its huge. It blocks my access to the PCI-E clips on the back of the slot that hold the card in making it a major PITA to take the cards out. I ususally sell my cards with the coolers, so the lack of backwards compatability dosnt bother me too much.

I have never used the Zalman, but I have heard nothing but good things. I will definately consider one for my next card(s).

I have a eVGA 6800NU AGP unlocked and overclocked with the NV Silencer. Seriously have a hard time noticing my PC is on at all. Framerates improved understress. eVGA AGP NU's used thesame HS/FAN as the GTs and the Silencer dwarfs it.

Your temps aren't half that bad for an overclocked 7800GTX... However, I'd take the NV Silencer... It will not heat up your case any more...

Any pics to the new VF-900? When is it coming? Also what do you guys think about that fatality edition of the vf-700? Worth the extra bucks or pointless peon stuff?

 You beat me too it- That new Zalman vf900 should rock! With the newer(ATI for sure) vid cards allowing overvolting pairing this cooler up with some more volts ought to make for some great O/C's without having to go with watercooling.

Heres the thread with a foreign article on it, I can't read it but it does have pictures.

The Fatality edition of the VF-700 is a waste of money, it 's pretty much the same as the regular one but its red and its like twice the price.
