Video Card Confusion

I'm building a new computer, and I was set on getting an 8800GTS 640 video card. However, with the upcoming release from AMD on the RV670 and NVIDIA with the G92 I don't know what to get. Are any of those releases supposed to be better than the GTS series, and are any of them still unable to best the 8800GTX. I f the GTX is still going to be top dog then I'll just build now and go with the 8800 GTX.
 
The new cards being prepared for launch are aimed at the mid-range market, not to compete with the GTX.

However, I would imagine the GTX will either get a 65nm refresh at some point in the next 3-6 months or else they will launch a new higher end part within the same time frame. A refresh if nothing else would enable higher clock speeds and lower thermal dissipation.
