I have a Hercules Kyro 2 Prophet 4500, and I'm running XP on it. For some reason when I try to scan-disk it would freeze, or finish scanning and give me a infinite loop error, culprit being "powervr.sys". Is it possible the kyro 2 conflicts with XP? Or is it my epox 8k7a with 1.2 ghz T-bird?

Thanks for all your help! :D :D

Are you overclocking your system by any chance? What kind of PSU are you using, how many watts?

nope... am not overclocking my vid card OR my cpu for that matter.... everything's un-modified. Pwr Supply is 250 watts... i don't know exactly what kind it is but it works with everything in Win98SE.

Interesting, that's the first report I've seen first-hand of the infinite loop problem existing on a non-nVidia board.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your motherboard and make sure you haven't tweaked your BIOS too aggressively. Going back to the factory (stable) defaults is a good place where to start.
