Which would be a better video card setup; Pentium D 950 Dual-Core 3.4GHz with 1 GeForce 7900GT 256MB

or

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual-Core with 2 Radeon X1600 Pro 256MB in Crossfire Mode.

By better, I mean able to run the high end games like Oblivion and future graphics intense games without having to upgrade. (i.e. which card(s) would I have to upgrade first?)

athlon x2 + 7900gt on an sli mobo so at least you can just add another 7900gt if time comes and you can still find one (ebay)

Single Faster Card>Slower Dual Cards

Thats the general rule. Get a 7900GT with a Multimeter and a Conductive Ink Pen.

Then see 7900GT Vmod Tutorial Here (webpage one doesn't seem to be working, link on the top of that page)

Then congradulate yourself on getting a 7900GTX for >$260 :)

(If your scared about the vmod then just do 1.4v on the core and skip the memory vmod. The memory one seems to be screwing up peoples cards, but the core one is extreamly safe)

Have fun :)
Or you can get a X1900XT for ~$280 after MIR
Or a X1800XT for $230 (i think??? is it less now??)
