Video Card choice question

Bestbuy has the VisionTek Xtasy 5864 GeForce2 Ti 64MB (250/400MHz) card for $99 after rebates, which is a pretty good price. Actually, they're out of stock but may get some tomorrow.

I'm currently running a Radeon 32MB LE which is, evidently, a Radeon DDR 32MB, clocked at the default of 166Mhz.

I enjoy good graphics, but I am not a gamer, and someone told me that I wouldn't even notice the difference in these cards unless I was into gaming.

What do you think? Will I notice the difference? Good deal? Should I wait until prices on the Radeon 8500 drop and just be happy with my Radeon DDR 32MB?

Thanks!

Your friend is pretty much correct. The difference in gaming speed will be minimal and if you are happy with the card's performance in all the areas that count then dont worry about changing card.
Besides, you may not even notice the change that much in 3D programs if you dont have a fast-ish processor.

Yep, that's pretty much what I thought. The Radeon seems like a very good card for all but the "3dmark2001 benchmark oriented" user. I've been running some graphics display programs, like gl excess, and it looks awesome.

Thanks... I'll need that $99 for Christmas presents.
