I want to record some classic movies in CD-R. I am not sure what I need. I have a Sharp 4-head Hi-Fi VCR, a Iomega 8x4x32 CDRW, and I plan to buy a Video Card.

Are they enough to record movie from Video Cassette?

Thanks for help.

You want to record an entire movie in a regular CD-R? Do you need to distribute this CD-R or will you just playing it back on the same computer?

Matrox Marvel and ATI Radeon VIVO can be used to record the movie. Usually, you'll get a better quality if you use the proprietory encoder/decoder in the card. However, you can only play it back on the same/similar computer. These are the inexpensive solution.

If you need high quality recording, expect to spend couple of grand. Also be aware that if you indeed distribute the CD-R, you'll need an authorization from the copyright holder.

I just want to view these movies myself. If I recorded movies in CD-R, can my normal CDROM read it? I do not want my CDRW keep burning and reading. It will be down soon if it works too much.

Thanks.
