Man -- It seems like it was less than a year ago when someone on the team questioned whether of not crunching could smoke a 'puter. I think he thought that it is impossible. ...WRONG!!!!

the computer is still crunching with the remaining gpus... just one gpu decided to take up smoking, and look where that got it... let this be a lesson to you all... if you smoke, you'll go up in flames.. 😀

I am still amazed by those pictures. The smoke escaped from components not protected by the heatsink!! Maybe the heatsinks could be enlarged. ...hmmmm.

😵

hhee and I was just researching 2 min ago how to get my 4890 to work under SETI@Home. Top 374 computers above me all have NV GPUs 😡

it didn't smoke the computer... unless you count the actual smoke as smoking it... I pulled out the fired up video card, let it air out for a little while, then fired up the computer again... it's still crunching now on collatz and aqua... albeit outside on the porch now in the cold 🙂
