Hey guys, I could really use some input here. I'm putting together a budget build for a friend and need to find the right video card for the right price. He's not doing any serious gaming or anything, but he plans on playing a few and is really looking forward to the new sim city. I'm thinking of going with this barebones kit on tigerdirect

That would leave me with about $100 extra to work with, so I was thinking of looking for a different video card.

If you guys had $400 to work with what would you go with?

Thanks in advance.

Just to clarify, you have $100 or $400 for the video card? $400 is plenty to work with, while $100 may be just adequate.

Also, what resolution will he be gaming at?

Sorry, that was a bit unclear. He has $400 total. If I go with the kit I posted, I would have $100 extra for a different video card. Thanks for the quick response.

You're looking at the
HD 7750
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...652&CatId=7387
or
GTX 650
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...123&CatId=7387
at that price range.

They are a toss up overall, although I haven't seen the 7750 reviewed after the AMD driver improvements.

Yeah, I'm thinking of sticking with Nvidia (thats what he has now) so I'm thinking the GTX 650 is a solid bet. I might just put in the extra few bucks for the 550 Ti, that way he could maybe pick up another one in the future to run SLI. Thanks for the input.
