Video Card Brands....Best? Worst?

I am considering buying a VisionTek Xtasy X800 video card but have never heard of them. Is this a reliable card or am I better off spending more or buying less to get a different brand. Any opinions on which brands are better would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken.

Yes, just a normal X800...the only game I play now is Flight Simulator and Pacific Fighters. ZZFly has the VisionTek for 169 with a 30 rebate. Either this card of the EVGA 6600GT From Monarch for 130 after rebate.

The x800 is a good card for the money, and it significantly outperforms the 6600gt in most games. I have one, and it runs the newer games nicely.

EVGA is a different brand than LeadTek. The best overall brand IMO is BFG. They have a lifetime warranty, and their cards are factory overclocked (while still being under the lifetime warranty).

The worst brand, and I can say this from personal experience, is XFX. I went through 4 6800GT's before I got one that worked (I've been using the working one ever since). Just don't buy XFX whatever you do 😉 .

I've had a VisionTek GF3 Ti200 and GF4 Ti4400 for years and both are running perfectly fine to this day. Their warranty department I've heard is pretty good as well - although I have no firsthand experience.

EVGA is the best IMO. BFG is a close second

umm yah i guess get the x800 but if you could possibly make more money get the 6800nu or a higher model of x800(pro or XL). Even though a x800 will run your games for now it might only last you 2 years at max, like new flight sim games. Of course you will always be able to run them at medium settings but if you want better high quality and AA/AF enabled spend a little more cash.

"Lifetime" warranties are great. But how many plan to keep their card for more than a few years?
The average lifespan is about 3 years if I'm not mistaken. Much much shorter for avid OCers.

Not to mention the 5 year statute of limitations concerning "lifetime" warranties & electronics. eVGA and BFG may or may not honor the warranty after 5 years, but they have no legal obligation to do so.

Personally, if you plan to use stock cooling, I'd suggest the Leadtek cards for their superior heatsink designs.
