Video Card Blues!!!

Please Help. Every time i try to update the nVidia drivers in WinXP i end up with only being able to get my resolution to display 4 bit and nothing else. Only the standard WinXP drivers seem to work WHY???

wanna know one thing.
doesn't xp come with default drivers for nvidia cards? i mean, i didn't use this disk for my mom's printer i just looked in the choose driver from list
i don't have most of that technology dude,so i can't recommend anything, but i wish you luck

I have benn trying to update the drivers to 28.30. I have tried all drivers belown this version but only the WinXP ones work above 4bit colour why??

if 4-bit colour means 16 (which is does - noone refers to it as 4-bit though) then it's simple.
You're running in safe mode. or
you're running in standard vanilla VGA mode.

Update your drivers correctly first and foremost.
If you can't get detonators to work, use the ones that shipped with your card just to get you going.

EDIT: It would appear the latest drivers don't work so good in XP.
I ask you.... why do you NEED the lastest drivers anyway?? If the XP drivers or previous Full-Release Detonator drivers (not betas) work, why change?

I just installed the latest XP detonator drivers from Guru3D and they work just fine. When I installed them, XP gave me a message about having an "unsigned" driver. I was like, "screw you computer, I made you, and I can destroy you..." so I continued with the install. No problems so far (it's been almost 24 hours).
