Video card artifacts in 2D? Broken?

So I am running the following:

eVGA SLI mobo (rebranded Jetway 939-SLI)
Enermax 485W dual rail
A64 San Diego 3700+
2-2-2-5 PC3200 Patriot 2x512
eVGA 7800GT
Raptor 74GB
Seagate 200gb IDE
3x 80mm fan
1x 120mm CPU HSF
PCI 4mb Creative video blaster (BIOS date 1998)

Long story short, the video from the 7800GT is corrupted right off the bat from boot/BIOS and also in windows. Looks like a video card looks when you overclock it way too hard and it overheats. All torn up and ruined.

The PCI video card works fine. All other systems are green. I have an SLI mobo and I have a standard molex connector next to the SLI slots which I did NOT connect on first boot.

I DID connect my 24 pin mobo power cord, and the *additional* 12v mobo power cord (4 pins).

I also DID connect my 6 pin video card PCI-E connector to the 7800GT.

I saw the problem, tried connecting the molex into the mobo. Rebooted.

No change -- video is still corrupt.

Two questions:

1) Is the card broken?
2) Do I need the SLI connector on the mobo plugged in when just running one 7800GT?

Thanks

LOLz until I get it RMA'ed, I am running a 4mb Permedia2 PCI video card. 3D TO THE MAXX baby! hahaha
