Video card and RAM buying dilemmas...

I have recently planned out my next PC purchase. From what I have heard the next gen video cards will be appearing in a couple of months and I am looking at buying a 9800 Pro right now for about $320 Canadian. I was thinking that instead of buying it now I could hold off on buying it for about 2 months and instead play games that do not require such a high end card. I was also planning to take my old GeForce 2 MX and use it in the interim for this new computer until the prices on the 9800 Pro drop. I was wondering if anyone thinks this would be a good and feasible idea. Also, I have never put such an old card in such a new system. I was wondering what everyone thinks about the idea. I mean the video card IS powerful enough to play quite a few games on. I have actually successfully played Knight Online and Battlefield 1942 on the computer. Any suggestions?

Also when buying RAM for my new system what is important as far as rating the quality of the RAM. How do I compare the different brands and what makes each manufacturers product better? So far I have been looking at Kingston, OCZ, and Corsair XMS. Also I am not interested in overclocking the RAM so I don't think that I need anything too high end. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

wait 2 months on the video card. as long as you dont overclock the RAM, i would go with crucial or anything with the minimal rating, all the brands you listed are good

Yeah but if I waited on a video card do you think that a GeForce 2 MX would work in the system. I am going to be running an Athlon 64 so I am not sure if there are any compatiblity issues. I was looking at the site that I am buying it from and they have a GeForce 4 that I could buy in the interim: MSI GeForce4 MX-440-T8X AGP 8X 64MB DDR TV-Out. The specs can be found at: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/vga/vga_detail.asp?model=G4MX440-T8X and it seems pretty good for $60 CDN.

Thanks for the reply.

The GF2 should work ok with A64. If necessary, you should be able to find a GF4 MX for less than $60; check newegg or tigerdirect.
