I recently upgraded to a 5870, and my monitor a Asus 25.5 VW266H died its a 19X12, my problem is the Asus MT276HE 27inch 1080p is only $30 more and Newegg will allow me to upgrade and pay the diff. I am really torn switching resolutions. Is it worth it for the diff? Is it difficult to get the 5870 to display 1080p right? I understand it needs a value change in the drivers to get full display on 1080p(ie to fill the screen without black bars)?? Is that correct? Anybody have that monitor and video card care to enlighten me??

The 5870 will do 1080p with no problems. You dont need to mess with anything.

Whether or not you will miss the extra vertical resolution is up to you. I just went from an Asus VW246H which is 1080p to a Dell u2410 which is 1920 x 1200 and I prefer the extra room myself. Then again, I have always preferred the 16:10 monitors but its just personal preference. Problem is that the 16:10 monitors are a dieing breed.

You are going up in size so it might not be as noticeable. Nobody but you can make this decision.
