I'm looking to put together an i7-920 rig probably w/ASRock X58 Extreme motherboard. My video card needs are modest as I don't have time to game anyways. If I do game, in the future, I'll buy a fast video card at that point. No point in wasting $ on something that's overkill now.

I'm just looking for decent Aero Glass performance under Windows 7 and need to drive two DVI LCDs. Currently I have a Dell 2007FP and a 2001FP (both 1600x1200). I'll probably end up driving one of those and some 23-24" 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 display in the near future.

Judging by http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2569-2.html, http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2569-2.html and some pointers elsewhere, I'm thinking of something based on the ATI HD 4650 or 4670.

I don't care about HTPC applications nor any sound output via HDMI. My case won't be a low profile case. The card doesn't need to be passively cooled.

I'd prefer to get a single PCIe video card instead of two and I do NOT want to drive one of them via analog VGA. (With my outdated Ahtlon 64 3200+ machine, I've got two video PCIe video cards, one using an Nvidia 6600 GT and the other w/a 6200 LE.)

Looking around on newegg, there are a bunch of dual DVI cards. But, a lot of cheap cards seem to have 1 DVI, 1 HDMI, 1 VGA or 1 DVI, 1 VGA, 1 DisplayPort. Can a male HDMI to female DVI adapter run that 2nd LCD? Anyone doing that? (DisplayPort to DVI adapters are apparently costly.)

Is it is easy to tell if they can do it or do I have to dig around on the manufacturer's site to figure this out? Also, how much do these adapters run?

I tried digging for a manual or some info on the SAPPHIRE HD 4670 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E and tried downloading the manual at http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/downloads/download_index_01.aspx?psn=0006. It was a useless generic ATI HD 4600 series manual. :( I couldn't even download a manual or find info on this for http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=Z9qnCFnOUNDMLk0W&templete=2.

Can someone point me to video chipsets or specific cards w/the best bang for the buck meeting my requirements while being under $80? (I don't want the absolute cheapest. My upper bound is ~$80.)
