I am looking for a new video card for this system. My old TNT2 Ultra is getting a little old and is not really cutting it anymore.

Here are my specs:

Motherboard: Intel SE440BX-2
CPU(brand, type & frequency): PENTIUM III 600 KATMAI (Slot 1)
RAM: 768mb PC100 Ram
Operating System: Win 98SE
Motherboard Chipset: Intel 440BX AGPset
Motherboard BIOS version: PhoenixSystems Bios A11
AGP slot: 2x (max.) - AGP 1.0 version

I am looking for the best/fastest card that I can put in this system. Most if not all Geforce cards require an AGP 2.0 slot because of the high power draw. I have tried a Geforce card in this system before and it did not work so well. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

i've become a radeon fan myself, since i have one(64MB DDR radeon vivo). it's a great card. i've had good luck with voodoo cards in the past, too.

Thanks for the info. Since I have and AGP 1.0 version slot, I don't think that card (64MB DDR radeon vivo) will work for me. Any AGP 2.0 version slot video card will cause some problems on this dinosaur. Any other suggestions?

Get a GeForce2 GTS or Pro. You can prolly find then for 150 or less at Newegg and will offer you a big upgrade from the TNT2 card. Before I purchased my GTS I also had a TNT2 card. In CS my frames jumped from 20-30 to over 80.

I don't think I can use a GeForce card whatsoever in this system. They usually require a AGP 2.0 version slot on your motherboard and my board has a AGP 1.0 version slot. GeoForce cards require more of a power draw I hear and that is what the AGP 2.0 version slot is for. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I'm using an MSI StarForce 815 Pro (GeForce2 Pro 64MB DDR) in the exact same motherboard as you, it's running flawlessly, don't be discouraged by the use of an AGP 1.0 slot, the card functions well, my system is as stable as a rock.

I also suggest you update your BIOS the latest and last BIOS upgrade the board, P17, get it here: Intel SE440BX-2 BIOS P17
