I'm in the process of upgrading my computer (planning it now, getting info ya know usual) and am now looking at video cards and Video Capture or just VI/VO capabilities.

Right now I have an older independant ATI Wonder Card. It works great for display, but when I hook my PS2 to it (long story) I get approx 1/4 second delay in the display.

Now, I'd love to eliminate this delay. Or get it to the point where I don't notice it anymore.

Do the all in one solutions from ATI not have this delay, or do the decent cards eliminate this delay?

Or even better, do the VI/VO cards eliminate it or not have it?

I'd love the no delay screen to be in a window on my desktop, but full screen only would be fine too.

Are you sure it's not a software thing?
Some software creates a delay (I know VLC does) on video input of say 200ms (IIRC that's something like the default).
So it might be a software thing.

Hmm I'll have to look into that. I was thinking it might be the craptacular computer I have now, but I'd rather find out ahead of time so I can get a better idea of what I need to replace.

I was originally thinking of going with an SLi board for the future upgrade, but then couldn't find an NVidia card with Video Capture similar to the All in One ATI cards. Which leads me to look at ATI based boards.

However I will need 2 available PCI slots (wireless/better sound card) which I don't look to be able to get on the crossfire as the boards I have seen have reviews talking about how they slots make the PCI slots unuseable.

I'd rather go with NVidia because it has the slots on the board that I will need, even if I have to have a seperate card for Outside Video.

I will have to look up a software solution, or find out if the software is limited by my comp a bit more closely.
