I am planning to capture video straight from Counterstrike, convert it to avi, then edit the footage in Adobe Primiere. I need to figure out how to setup both my workstations to maximize the quality of the footage.
Here are the specs of my two systems
Old System
433 celeron
BH6 Motherboard
128mb pc100 ram
tnt2 ultra
(unknown brand, heh) 10gb 5400 rpm HD
win2k professional
New system
1.2 Tbird
geforce2 ultra with S-video out
Asus A7M266256mb
256mb pc1600
2x IBM 30.0 75GXP's
win2k professional
Obviously I will want to use the new system as the player, as it will achieve the highest quality resolutions and framerates. I will be using the other system as the recorder, but first i need to do a few things.
First off, the 5400 rpm hard drive will not cut it, dma 33 is not enough for this kind of videocapture. Since one of my 75GXP's is empty, I was thinking of buying a promise ata 100 controller card in the old system and making the hard drive swappable between both workstations. But then I began to wonder if ATA 100 will be enough...I could buy another 75GXP and run a raid setup on the old computer, but I'm wondering if that would be overkill.
Question #1: will ATA 100 be enough for this? I have no experience in video capture..
Also, I need to get a TV-In card for the old computer. I was thinking of a Radeon TV Wonder, but I want ot make sure its a good card. anyone have any experience with this card? reccomendations for a better one?
And finally..should I get some more ram for the old system? Or is this just more hard drive intensive? I was thinking of buying another 512mb of pc100 ram..does it matter if i get generic or name brand ram?
