Video Capture (not TV)

I'm looking for a recommendation on a video capture card. TV tuning has no value to me (DirecTV) so I just need to get composite/S-video from a VCR/camcorder. DV input may also be desireable. Performance is most important (over features or software).

Thanks,
EH

Most hardware capture cards also include a TV tuner, since it is generally inexpensive compared to the hardware encoder chips. The standard recommendation would be a Hauppauge PVR-150 or a card with an ATI Theater 550 chip.

DVI input may alos be desireable.

Not happening. DVI or HD Component at any kind of reasonable resolution is WAY more bandwidth than any consumer solution can deal with.

Sorry, not DVI out, but DV IN (typo fixed).

Thanks,

What's "DV" in? If you want to get video in from a DV camcorder, you just need a Firewire port (which has nothing to do with an analog capture card).

Video-in-only cards are no cheaper than full blown TV-in cards that have the exact same videograbber chips on. E.g. KWorld's 7131-based card gets you the latest videograbber chip AND a worldwide all-standards tuner. Why skip that? It's free!
