I have a AIW Radeon in my second comp. and after buying it new years ago, I am just now trying to do video capture (would like to copy some old VHS home movies to my hard drive).

I have the TV audio and video working and can get a picture from my VCR, but I have a problem when I try to capture. This is what happens when I try to capture from TV, OR from the VCR: I hit the record button on the TV interface...digital VCR pops up and nothing! So I push the "start recording" button on DVCR and a save file menu pops up. I pick a file name, select save and both the save menu and DVCR panel disappear...just the TV screen is left. I let it go for a few minutes then close out the TV screen. At this point it either closes out, OR asks me to save the file(again!) and closes out. When I try to play the saved file (sometimes there are two as noted above), there is 1 or 2 seconds of sound only, It doesn't even open any type of "viewer" screen, just the controls.

I think all my video files are installed correctly. Any ideas what I'm doin wrong? Heres some info:
AIW Radeon 32 mb
WinXP Pro
ATI Cat. 3.2 video drivers
Latest ATI capture drivers
Latest ATI DVD encoder
ATI MMC (7.1 I think)
ATI control panel
DirectX 9a
Windows media encoder (as recommened by ATI)

i capture video with a ati wonder tv ve!
works great (albeit the caputure window size is smallish) for video intended for a web site (not full screen)

i run VeedubP4 (freeware) and it works nicely.
you might consider using this.
