Video capture cards with component input

Are there any TV tuner cards taht would go in a PCI slot that have a component input? I run my Xbox through my PC and I really want to be able to use its HDTV functionality. The only solutions I can find are external solutions like those offered by Viewsonic. If you know of any others for under $200, help me out! Thanks.

There aren't any as of yet (of course, it's not like there are many HDTV capture cards at all). I know the MPAA is very much against any kind of HD capture device that doesn't use their copy protection scheme, which may be impacting this. Isn't the DMCA great? :disgust:

Gah! I really need one of these beasts. I guess I'll just have to stick with S-Video in widescreen mode for now.

Does anyone know of any way to make the Xbox output in 1080i or 720p via the S-Video cable? Some sort of program that can be DLed on a modded box (I have a modded box)? This would basically solve my problem... any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

As was stated in your other thread, you can get a 'VGA Box' that will take the component out from the XBox and give you a VGA signal that you can display natively on your PC monitor. That's the best way to get a high-def output from it onto your PC monitor. There's nothing you can do in software; there's just no way, physically, to display a digital signal over S-Video.

That is correct. The only main types of cables that can go higher than 480i (480p, 720p, 1080i) are component, vga, and dvi (and its derivitives).

Don't forget firewire 🙂

wonder if that card would even work in the us? Still hoping for ati to come up with an allinwonder with hd support and component input or even to add component input to the tv wonder hd, not sure why no companies have. I can understand not having dvi/hdmi input for fear of copying protected broadcasts but consideirng the lack of protection with component anyway I dont see a reason for blocking it, and I have wanted to get xbox to run on my sgi 1600sw since i got it (it can do 720p natively).
