video capture cards - help needed

Hi All,

I am interested in converting my old vhs tapes to dvd. I have a dvd burner... I purchased the Pinnacle pro today at compusa but I hear its a POS. Any ideas on a better one? I am looking to stay under $100 if possible.

Is the ASUS tv tuner worth it? What is MINI-DVD?

I'll take one of the questions:

"What is MINI-DVD?"

Answer: No such thing.
You are probably thinking of miniDV. This is a popular digital camcorder format (small tape size) that is usually transferred to a computer using a Firewire connection. It has nothing to do with DVD.

I stand corrected. I thought this concept is called "SVCD"?

In any case, many people sometimes mistakenly call miniDV, "miniDVD".

I am been using Kworld's Mpeg TV station w/ FM /Remote under WinXP for few weeks now. (only $43 shipped)
It has been rock stable, and I can capture TV/VCR/ "input" realtime.
InterVideo WinDVR is a great software that come w/ the card.
Purely amazing, not only you can capture w/ 7 different format of NTSC but PAL as well.

You can also capture w/ 9:16 ratio.

thanks everyone

i got my card installed but i cant seem to get any software to do the 720 format - when i use the neoDVD that comes with the card it only has good, better, best. When I tried to install some other apps, one of them made it so that the audio in IS ALWAYS ON which fugged up all captures after that... i had to do a system restore point.

Any ideas?

im using the AVERDVD card on a p4 2.26 512rdram geforce 4200
