Video Camera advice

So we've got a little on on the way and my loving wife looks at me and says the magic words " we need a video camera" of course I have a grin on my face as this is just another new toy to add to the house .... but the question for you all knowing techies is where should I begin?? All I know so far is that I want something small, and something that can be transferred easily to the computer to store and duplicate videos.
Im not sure of my pricerange, but Id love to keep it under 300 or 400 if I can.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm a big fan of Panasonic, for the price I don't think they can be beat. This one is $350. Not sure of the price as I know it'll be a big beyond what you're looking to spend, but Panasonic makes a killer DVD cam for somewhere around 500'ish. you won't find any DVD cam for under 400. But, MiniDV+Firewire cable = to your pc in a snap.
