Video Cable Question - need a long one

Hi everyone, first-time poster here. Just bought a new monitor for my dad, who's in a nursing home. It's a Dell 1905FP with the above card. We're mounting the LCD on an arm and the PC will be on the other side of the room, due to usage and space constraints. I figure I need at least 35 ft of cable to cover it all, which I know is a lot for a good connection.

My dad will hopefully be watching TV in bed from this monitor (using a media center PC), as well as doing other, less taxing things. No video games, though (as far as I know)!

Do I need to upgrade the video card, and if so, what's the best bargain for his needs?

Also, exactly what kind of cable should I be buying (i.e. DVI-D 18pin)? Does anyone know of any good deals?

Any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated by myself and my father.

Thanks!

sorry for my lack of knowledge about cables, but I dont think the quality of the video card will affect the quality of the video output. the main thing you want to look at is good quality cables.

Dvi spec says that signals must travel 5 meters although you may get longer distances.

The card will have an effect on how far the signal will travel.

Linkage

There are solutions that will travel further but they are expensive.

More linkage

And  for being a good son.

Thanks everyone. I bought these cables:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...e=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=9741050034

They include this text in their listing, so I hope they're right!:
"Some sellers claim that the DVI specification limits DVI cable length to 5 meters (16 feet). That's not true. It's an excuse used by those who sell low quality cables that won't work for lengths longer than 5 meters or those who grossly overcharge for their cables with the claim that their cables must be extra-expensive to go beyond the (imaginary) specification limit.

It does take a very good DVI cable to go beyond 5 meters. That's why we have a degreed electrical engineer and a retired certified (SBE/NARTE) broadcast engineer on our staff who can understand the technical parameters of the DVI specification and verify that our cables meet or exceed them. This insures that our cables will provide the highest quality video and comply fully with the DVI specification's real requirements."

So you guys think my current card be okay for TV viewing, then? WelshBloke's link mentions that stronger cards may allow for more distance without loss. I'm thinking that I should just try with what I've got and only bother if that doesn't work.

Thanks again!
