Video Cable for TV Out

Hahaha

Member
I have ATI Rage Fury Pro with TV Out card. I'd like to output both video and audio to TV. What kind of cable I need to have? Please also advise where I can find a good deal for a LONG cable.

If you want to put output audio, then you're going to have to take a cable from your sound card to your TV.

If you have a normal soundcard with just regular old headphone outputs, then you're going to have to go to radio shack and buy a mini-jack to RCA converter. You can use these RCA ends (composite, the red and white ones) to get audio from your sound card's output to your TV. I'd recommend using the Line-Out, as you don't need an amplified port for audio-in.

For outputting video, you can either use S-Video or Composite (the one that looks like a keyboard plug, or the one that's the yellow RCA jack, respectively). S-Video will give you a MUCH higher signal, but the cables are a bit more expensive, and not all TVs (older ones don't) have S-Video inputs.

I'll leave recommending stores to other people.

Same idea but if you buy from pccables.com then you can get it at a much lower cost, I bought 25' of svideo cable, and a 15 patch crossover cat5 cable for under 12 bucks shipped.

Most consumner cables are:

1. overpriced
2. poor quality, small gauge (less than 24).

They give you 95% insulation and 5% copper..........the part that counts.

You can't tell from the outside what the conductor gauge is. The most important spec (which is rarely mentioned).

Forget about the 'gold' connectors. Another scam to double the price.
It does decrease oxidation, but doesn't have anything to do with what's inside!!

Get a monitor. TV-out is good for some games, movies..ect. but bad for handling text.
