All of a sudden my computer refuses to playback almost any video stream. Every file i try to play brings up a black screen with sound and no picture. There are a handful of small videos that play, but the rest exhibit the black screen thing. Anyone ever seen anything like it? I removed divx and my video drivers (detonator 44.03) and reinstalled-- still the same problem. ReEnabled the stuff i removed from startup using msconfig-- still isn't working. can't figure out what it might be. i've tried using vidomi, WMP, and winamp, and they all have the same problem. I've played these vid files before, so i know it's not that. Any ideas?

GeForceGTS2 w/ detonator v. 44.03
DivX 5.0.5 w/ xvid & AC3 Filter installed
Athlon 1.2 "C" @ 133FSB

Try searching for DivX codec packs.
That usually seems to be a cause for audio but no video. Check you have all the codecs installed (Nimo codec pack seems to do pretty much every vid I have)

that's not it. I cant even play videos NOT encoded with divx. Like regular standard MPEGs. I'm trying to avoid reghosting my C drive, too. I just did that a few days ago.
