Video: Best way to unclog your drain - Just recorded this

So whenever I try to unclog a drain it was always with chemicals waiting for it to "break down" all the garbage but ultimately it never works. Disgusting fumes and very ineffective.

I was at Menards and the cost was around 2.95 if my memory was correct and today I had the opportunity to try this beast out. See the video below.

Guy at the hardware store recommended against those for shower drains, or other drains that aren't a straight shot down. He sold was some stuff called Hair Away that was cheaper and not as harsh as Draino and worked great

I spoon borax and baking soda into the drain, followed by vinegar and then boiling hot water 15 minutes later. Though tools like the Zip-it definitely come in handy too.

Used it to retrieve tampon from gf. Got keys out of the pug.

For plumbing, I just unscrew the trap.

Initially, when the water doesn't drain quickly, it looks like the stopper is barely open so the water can't drain. .

Basins, kitchen sinks, and utility sinks all have accessible P-trap that is easily undo for unclogging.

Zip-it, coat hanger, and hand snake are good tools but only needed for tub and shower drains, because the P-trap is not readily accessible.

Can you re-use it? I have one of these I picked up once but the package indicated it was one time use. I usually just take apart the trap.. I can do it all in 5 or 10 minutes now.

Re-usable most definitely. I just tossed mine because it was disgusting.

I got one of those a while back but never used it. One method I use for bathroom sinks is pour baking soda down the drain and then stop up the overflow hole. Then pour vinegar and close the drain. That blows all the gunk down the drain. After that boiling water which does good work.

Nice. I can See that working well on hair and other bathroom clogs.

I've had to use the balloons on a clog on once. Even a drill powered snake couldn't get it but the balloon did. It's a tubular rubber balloon you hook up to a garden hose. Use with caution as it uses water pressure to blow the clog thru

My sink is backed up too. The drain cleaner I poured down there was only temporary. My wild African hair must be resistant to drain cleaners...

An alternative is to beat your wife until she stops shedding hair into the sink. Amazing how blockages always seem to consist of 95% womens hair but cleaning the drains out is always the mans job .

Those are older than the internet. I usually just use a small piece of 8 or 10 gauge wire with the end stripped off 1/2" and the wire folded back. If it gets a lot of resistance, the wire just unfolds but it can still grab plenty.
