I am having issues with video and audio skipping and lagging. I have been watching videos with VLC media player for the last couple weeks. No issues. Then it started skipping/lagging when I went full screen. I can watch it maximized but not full screen.
Netflix also does this. It is doing it more when I move the mouse. When playing back videos on my hard drive, or streaming, it does the same thing.
Specs:
Intel Pentium quadcore, 2nd gen processors
8 GB RAM
Geforce 8600 GTS (updated to latest driver, no change)
Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Have tried Windows Media Player, VLC, Divx and all do the exact same thing, skipping/lagging the video and audio.
This skipping/lagging does not happen if I'm listening to music such as MP3 files in Songbird.
Issue happens if I watch video while Songbird is open (but not playing) and when it is closed.
I did have one blue screen of death. So I wiped the system and re-installed Windows, formatting the hd before I installed.
No change in issue.
I have done internet searches but my research has thus far not given anything meaningful. Most have either indicated a bad AVI file or Windows error. However, this happens with several different file formats and Windows has been wiped and reinstalled.
This also happens if I record several seconds on my HD webcam (Microsoft Lifecam Studio)

I record 5 seconds of HD, stop. Play back. Video and audio skips and lags.
I record 5 seconds at one setting below HD (990x550 or something like that, can't recall exact dimensions) and issues do not occur. Playback of video and audio is smooth.
I did a search on these forums, but didn't find anything yet. I will search again. I'm also emailing with someone that knows a bit about computers but they haven't given me anything useful yet. They've just given me basics, such as clean temp files, scan for viruses, make sure nothing else is running.
I have no other programs taking CPU power when this happens. I am only using 1.84 GB RAM when it happens.
Any tips or attention you're able to give, even a link to continue my research, would be greatly appreciated.
