Hey there...I want to chat with my parents and see them at the same time online. We both have good webcams, and microphones...what is the best software to facilitate chatting that isn't ridiculous in price, and is possibly free? Can you do audio and video in MSN? IS tehre anyway to get a decent FPS?

Entirely dependant on the speed of the connection and what other streams are running - video only, both, background apps ... These are all visual estimates, but I've gotten sub-1 when talking to someone on dialup, and up to I'd say around 15ish with broadband.

Cheers! M4h

Do you konw anything that you can get higher than 15 with? Like 30 or 60? Since a lot of webcams support that kind of frame rate now.

I used Ivisit when I was in germany and talking back to the states. Frame rates wern't bad either, and I was on ISDN over there. You can have multiple video feeds, or just voice. Plus it's free.

Edit: sorry I don't have any FPS #s for you.

thanks....how was the video feed? Any good? Was it pretty smooth? All I am trying to do, I have a brother in London, and he just recently had 2 kids. They want to have my parents be able to see the kids pretty regularly, so I am trying to figure out which way would be possible to get some decent FPS. Ivisit looks interesting...was it better than MSN?

Trillian Pro 3.0 is in Alpha but when it's out it'll have Video and Audio for most of the current IM services.
