the company is called ecoATM and they have a couple thousand ATMs around the country. i was able to find a few near me at home and at work on their website. you put your device in, it scans it, then it offers you a cash amount for your device. you can also donate the funds directly to a charity from the ATM.

imho, a convenient solution to the problem of all my old devices hanging around my basement in the technology drawer/shoebox/bag.

Not Bad... so it will give $132.00 for a iPhone 4 by that video.. I wonder if it can tell if the camera's busted?

maybe a couple of wooden nickels and a barter deal for some chickens. i hope the ATM has breathing holes.
Think I'll keep the phone.

Called some month back to upload my contacts...."Mr. Highland, we can't. You phone is kind of ......old....."

"Like me. What of it.":p

Wish there was one near Chicago. I have a TF101 stuck in a bootloop that I'd like to dump. Seems like a convenient way to get rid of some stuff sitting around.

Wow, getting cash for stolen phones is even easier now!

Not that easy but you can work around it. I was standing by one of those stations once while charging my phone on the side of the ATM.

I was watching someone selling her iPhone4, she has to put in her Driver's License to be scanned and had to answer a bunch of questions on the screen.

I have 2 within 10 miles.

Actually saw this last time I was at my local mall and it seemed to scamy to even give any consideration to but after watching the video, I'd give it a shot with some old devices otherwise collecting dust.

Making a killing on every iPhone they scam people into turning in.

What do you mean scam? If they're actually giving you money for your old devices, there's no scam. If they can get more than you can for the same device, then it's up to you whether you want to try to get that much too... but it's probably going to take some more work. It's the same question that always comes up when you're selling to a middle man: Will I make enough selling it privately to be worth my time? People who choose to use these kiosks, or to sell games at gamestop, or to trade in their car to the dealership have all made the same choice. They'd rather have less money now and be done with it than deal with making an ad and dealing with people themselves. With the state of craigslist these days, can you really blame them?

So I ask again, what do you mean scam?
